Food and Recipe Writing


As a professionally-trained chef, educator, and freelance writer, Susan embraces the chance to share information about ingredients, local food culture, different cooking tools or techniques, or delightful food experiences.

For five years and counting, Susan has written and produced an informational culinary newsletter for subscribers called “LCK’s Cooking Well.” She also contributes recipes and articles to food and hospitality newsletters, magazines, and websites.


Recipe Writing
Susan can also capture and edit a given recipe, or write a completely new recipe for use by consumers at home or professionals in commercial settings. She uses best practices in recipe writing, paying special attention to:

  • choosing formats appropriate for the use of the recipe
  • properly listing ingredients, accurate measurements, and form
  • clearly describing preparation methods
  • listing yield or number and size of servings
  • including prep and cook times, if desired
  • noting additional information and serving suggestions
